About

This photo blog is a companion to Southwest Desert Gardening. Readers there are used to seeing photos included in the posts, which is the typical blog. I had never really thought about a photo blog.

Then Noel Jackson designed the theme, “Monotone.” It is a photo blog that allows one photo per post, but the theme then automatically sizes the photo AND selects the background color for the photo. I could not wait to get it! And, it has been as much fun as I thought it would be.

Most of the photographs are of roses, my gardening passion. But, every now and then, something else will appear, just to keep you on your toes. Expect to see rose arrangements, rose judges, members of various rose societies, plus a variety of other plants that grow in the desert southwest.

I am a Consulting Rosarian, and an ARS Accredited Rose Horticulture Judge and Rose Arrangement Judge. Roses I have developed and registered are Yoyo, Misty Moonlight, and What a Surprize.

If you would like more information, consider joining The American Rose Society. On that web site you will be able to find a local rose society in your area, where you can get involved and learn more about roses that do well where you live.

To move through the photos, click on the > or the <. If you want to see the photos of floribunda roses, click on “Floribunda” in either the tag or category. If you want to see every photo of “Yoyo” or “Mermaid,” for example, type the name in seach.

To start with the most recently posted photo, click here. To start at the oldest posted photo, click here. Or, you may browse through all the photos in thumbnail size by going to Archives, and then clicking on the one(s) you would like to see.

If you are feeling really adventurous, just go through them all. I hope you enjoy the photos half as much as I have enjoyed posting them. New photos should be posted often.

Thanks, Noel!
